FEBRUARY CHIAPAS

A huge thank you to everyone who attended our Report Back from the Encuentro Between the Zapatista Peoples and the Peoples of the World in Oventik. Your attendance made it a big success. Also a big thank you to the inspiring musicians of Musica Humana~Blues. La Peña was full for the second time in January. It was also full for the event we did with Left Turn Magazine to promote their latest edition with articles on Mexico and Lebanon.

1. Friday, February 9, 2007 - 9:00 - 9:30 PM - Radio Zapatista in English - KPFA 94.1 FM - This month is a KPFA fundraising month, so regular Radio Zapatista programming will not be aired. If you are a KPFA contributor or want to be one, we urge you to make your pledge during the Radio Zapatista time slot and help us keep the program on the air. We’ll be back in March with 2 more awesome programs.

2. Friday, February 9, 2007 - 7:00 PM - “What’s Up from the Bottom?” John Ross talks at New College about his new book on the Zapatistas and reads from his new book of poetry. Chiapas Support Committee video of the Encuentro Between the Zapatista Peoples and the Peoples of the World in Oventik will also be shown. 777 Valencia Street in San Francisco. $5.00 at door.

3. Sunday, February 18, 2007 - 3-6 PM - The Chiapas Support Committee’s regular monthly meeting. Our general meetings are held in the homes of our members and are open to all those who wish to work with us on behalf of the peoples of Chiapas and on organizing the Other Campaign and the International Campaign here at home.
